The 3rd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINING HERITAGE (ICSH 2025):
The Future of Conservation: Embracing Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Heritage
A Brief Overview of the Previous Conferences
The International Conference on Sustaining Heritage (ICSH) is an annual conference organized by the University of Bahrain since 2023. These conferences aim to bring together experts, innovators, and professionals in the fields of technology and sustainability to discuss emerging trends, challenges, and solutions. As the world faces increasing environmental challenges, the role of technology in driving sustainable practices has never been more critical. Our goal is to foster meaningful discussions, share best practices, and explore cutting-edge innovations that will shape the future of both industries. The conference brings together academics, practitioners, and industry experts to explore emerging trends, challenges, and solutions in heritage conservation, digital innovation, and sustainability.
Previous Conference Themes:
- ICSH 2023: Innovative and Digital Approaches
- ICSH 2024: Embracing Technological Advancements
Each conference has explored technology-driven or digital approaches to heritage conservation, ensuring the preservation and sustainable management of cultural assets.
ICSH 2025 – Conference Theme
This year’s conference will feature three core tracks centered on digital and technological themes, each exploring cutting-edge advancements and trends in areas like Digital Innovation and Technological Development. These tracks will provide an in-depth examination of the latest developments in these fields, fostering insightful discussions and sharing of expertise. Papers selected in these digital-themed tracks will be published in IEEE.
In order to broaden the conference’s appeal and encourage a wider range of submissions, the organizing committee has decided to introduce an additional track that focuses on Traditional Approaches to Heritage Conservation. This new track will offer a platform for research outside of the digital and technological domains, enriching the conference with perspectives from heritage and conservation studies.
For submissions that fall outside of the digital and technological focus, the committee will explore appropriate journals for publication, though it’s important to note that there may be challenges such as financial requirements or technical issues with journal agreements. As a result, the publication of these papers cannot be guaranteed.
Despite these potential challenges, the inclusion of a non-digital track aims to create a more interdisciplinary and inclusive conference environment, fostering collaboration across diverse research areas and encouraging innovative thinking.
